Aerodynamics

Despite seeming simplicity of a class, aerodynamics of a glider is not so simple. On the one hand, it is model which should have good soaring characteristics. And on the other hand, it is model which at start exceeds speeds near 100 km/h. These two conditions should be carried out by all means for successful flights and the more so in the conditions of rigid competitive struggle of competitions. This task is not so simple and, as a rule, similar characteristics have gliders of class F3B where in task "speed" it is necessary to develop the maximum speed and simultaneously with it in "duration" task it is necessary to take off the maximum time.

The decision of a similar problem are AG series airfoils of the wing which were developed by Mark Drela, and, certainly, the correct geometry of the wing. Owing to ailerons almost in all span of the wing it is possible to use effectively camber during launch and gliding. It allows to maintain model practically in all weather conditions and in different speed modes of flight.

Construction

It is not difficult to guess that the model developing so great launch speed should have a design that combines such qualities as rigidity, reliability and stability to long operation. Simultaneously with it, the model should be light as much as possible for the best characteristics of soaring.


The wing of the model has a usual construction glass/balsa/glass sandwich. Balsa is an excellent material for a wing. It well holds the loadings arising at start of model, easily is under repair in case of breakage. The model with wing made of balsa will be very good choice for beginners in F3K. The wing tip is reinforced with carbon. The wing spar is made of carbon too.


The model fuselage is made of fiber glass fabric with carbon reinforcements, the tail boom is made from carbon. The fuselage and the tail boom are made with a high pressure that along with small weight gives them extreme rigidity and durability. The fuselage is adapted for the big accus and servos. It is much facilitates the process of assemblage and a choice of radio equipment for the model. The fuselage can be made 2,4 friendly.


The stabilizer of the model is all-moving. The fin has big area and big rudder, which is very effective in circling and even in the landing phase. Tail surfaces are made with negative moulds as all parts of the glider. The cores are CNC milled.

Electric version

The model is also aviable in electric version. In this version all reinforcements are redistributed to economy the weigh. It allows to make light enough model. The model in electric version ready to flight will weigh only 350g.


You can use DLG and electric fuselages with the same wing. Electric fuse is made of glassfiber fabrics with carbon reinforcements ( or with glass reinforcements for 2.4 Ghz). It is possible to use brushless motors both inruner or outruner and Li-Po accu.
